katray--
yes, the turkey, mashed taters and stuffing was much more delish when compared to the cardboard, I mean, the frozen pizza. lol.

Julia.
Maybe the poor woman didn't feel like cooking.  I can kind of relate to that now and then.  LOL

Ugh to frozen pizza any time of the year imo too, Julia..

But there's always a tastier lining behind every cardboard excuse for food - it makes you really appreciate a home cooked, well planned meal. I bet eating at your Dad's was enjoyed more fully than it would have been otherwise, lol.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Eating out of disposable plates saves people from doing the dishes.

No I'm afraid she was serious...she didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with this mishmash!

avant--
I'm sure your other items did complement the ham, much more so than a cardboard tasting frozen pizza!

hahaha, maybe she was just trying to make you laugh? ROFL

this was some sort of a hint???

Julia
For a minute there, it sounded like my meal. We had ham, potato salad, but we also had a few other things that went well with them. My whole family has this rotavirus, save for me. I'm cleaning up after everybody as they lay around and bemoan their fates.

joe--
to this extent, yes it's a first. LOL about the enchiladas. When I saw them on the table I nearly died laughing. There was only about three bites left anyway. ;-)

HAHA
Is this the first time she's done this ummmm. . . , unique Christmas meal??  Maybe you should insist on coming over early next year and assist in the preparation of the feast???

Loved the enchiladas, by the way.  Priceless!  LOL

yeah, the "plate in the air" is not the most comfortable position for partaking of food is it?

I'd trade you the frozen pizza for the burrito any day!!

Frozen Pizza ????

yikes, that sounds like quite the mishmash..frozen pizza tops it all off..
.....you would not have been alone at the table, Julia, because I am known for spilling paper plates full of food onto carpets....

That's a little off traditional to be sure, Quirks!
Reminds me of my first Thanksgiving away from home -- I had a turkey burrito from the gas station and a six pack of beer.

Well, I hope she at least cooked the frozen pizza!
Wonder what she is doing for New Years?Hop your Christmas was good.

I know how you feel.  I too suspected that my mother was kidnapped by aliens after I returned from a long visit to Germany to learn that she was in the Seminary.  Since Mom was always deaf in one ear, I've frequently given this unexpected phenomenon careful thought:  Let's see ... I went to Germany, and Mom went to the cemetary?  No, seminary, where they teach you to believe that people never die!  Oh.

If that wasn't so sad it would be funny...What was she thinking? Maybe she is kind of like my Mother who did end up in the loonie bin...except yours isn't loonie! Hope Christmas was better for you than Christmas eve..

suffice it to say I didn't eat very much of this Christmas Eve meal. (and I use the word "meal" loosely, LOLOL).

That menu sort of made my tummy ache.  Can you say TUMS?

Julia...

That sounds like fun to me actually.  Frozen pizza always makes me smile.  Besides I have this theory that if there are foods you like individually then you will like them together too.

My families Christmas dinner featured more traditional fare, but we didn't eat until almost 8:00 because we were waiting on everone to show up.  By that time everyone is half full from snacking continuously on nuts, cookies, fudge and the like.

Oh Maggie!!
As soon as I hit "post" I knew I should've added that disclaimer or it was going to be pointed out to me straightaway. LOL. You didn't disappoint...
