Maybe, just maybe

She had come there to jump off, herself.  Maybe it was her conversation with you that saved her life.  And her little dog to!

Haven't I heard that one someplace before?  Anyway, if it had been me I might have lead her to believe that she had done me a great favour by stopping to talk to me.  Random acts of kindness are contagious.

Absolutlely

The cold affects my eyes the very same way.

I see it's been 21 hours since you posted this story.  I wonder what you think about the situation now that you'v had time to reflect on it?!  The woman's will to stay with you until she felt confident you weren't going to plunge of the cliff really touches my heartstrings.  I hope it's touched yours, too.

Well I’m glad you’re back safely from the cliff
and also back on the blogit. I’ve missed reading you.

I Know What You Mean

both about wind in your eyes and needing rails around cliffs.

Do you get drawn towards cliff edges?

The woman sounds quite caring. . .
and your chosen spot of contemplation lovely. However, I hope when she left she was truly certain you weren't going to end it all, otherwise her dog's chilliness took precedence over a potential human tragedy of gothic proportions!

As to one of the previous comments, though much is ugly in the world right now (including world conflicts and quite a few of the actions of my country's government), I don't think there is a shortage of people who care. We just need to take a minute out of our crazed schedules to remember that we do

Positive--
It's okay if she thinks she talked you out of something you weren't contemplating. No harm done, and she feels good that she could help, even though it wasn't needed. I hope you are enjoying your new life. Happy New Year!

It was very kind of this stranger to be so concerned about you.
There are a few caring individuals left.
