Xeno-x, you're right on-- There are no leaders where there are no followers
And more of us than not would rather leave the decisions and responsibilty for results in someone else's hands. Or we want to spend our time and energy doing other things, while someone else creates and maintains the world in which we can.

some people make themselves to be messiahs
many people want to make someone else to be a messiah for them.

we wouldn't have the former without the latter

Offbeats, I think we can get the voices in our heads to tell us
what we most want to hear.  If we happen to believe that the only voice that can talk to us in our heads is God, well then...

yes he read from that passage
its one of my favorites

i think they misunderstood him

i think he came to tell of the "kingdom of God . .  within . . " and "the Christ within us, the hope of glory"

all he said was that those words were being fulfilled as they heard them.

the question is how were those words being fulfilled

I heard that Pat Roberstson
Is now having conversations with God...So did Oral Roberts in Tulsa..locked himself up in the tower cause God told him that was the way to make money for his church...

Legends in their own minds...

Xeno-x, I always appreciate your comments!
I'm not sure who creates a messiah...  Self-declared messiahs are, in my mind, subject to the most cautious scrutiny.  Nor is acclamation of any number of devotees enough to make anyone a messiah. Perhaps a true messiah can only be recognized in the heart, or in historical perspective.

Jesus began his ministry by informing the congregation at temple that he was in fact the realization of the prophecy of the messiah in... the Book of Isaiah, I think. The congregation was skeptical.  He did not, however, go on to insist that everyone or anyone accept him as the Messiah.

its when you create a m essiah

that you've created a false messiah

it's when you look inward to your own inner strength

that you find true salvation
