Good to see some others with some sense
As a direct descendent of Charles Martel with some appreciation for that bit of family history, I am quite aware of the threat of Islam and the basis of that much delayed and, recently, maligned reaction to Muslim attacks and conquests called the Crusades.
However, it is important to remember that the degree of fervor emanating out of the Muslim heartland (Saudi Arabia) is the result of no freedom of thought especially with respect to debating the tenets of Islam. An extension of freedom into the Muslim world is essential in combating this threat.

A marvelous post, and I miss Kristles, her posts actually were what kept my memories of a sex life alive.
She wrote of the subject with such passion, such openness, that you couldn't help but admire her talent and courage.
Of course I've always been behind Bush, love his parents, and I fear who may take his place may not have his gonads.
As far as I'm concerned, the only solution to this muslim terrorism , is the terrorism of a nuke dropped where it will do the most good.

I agree, there are too may even on this side of the pond who do not yet recognize the danger, or if they do, are too timid to do anything about it...

I resent this inadvertent education, but the points on the excerpt on this
post were so well made well it had me cringe a little.
If there was only a way to meet all this in the middle, or am I just being European about it?

This is haunting. Many Americans are still walking with their butts in the air and their heads in the sand thinking we should just talk with those people. I don't think so! Until all people feel the same way about everything there will be wars. The very worst kind is terrorism, there is no plan, no warrior identity, no real army, just shadows and evil to kill anything that gets in the crosshairs.

Julia,
I haven't been here long enough to have experienced a lot of that - cripes, it's less than a year, but for the most part I have enjoyed myself. What I hate though is that I am beginning to feel guilty when 'real world' demands make it difficult for me to write and read...

we come to know and love other writers and then, they leave us. It's nice that the posts remain though, so one might be able to visit the cabin again.

Naut,
Those words ring true about the Europeans, but they also right pretty true about a majority of Americans I fear (see the results from the last election). The time is coming when someone is going to have to step up and make a stand on things that are going wrong in our global on whatever. It is not going to be pretty. The survival of the West will depend on it. I hope that person, man or woman, comes soon.
