Thanks for the knowledge you have provided. I did not know about Leo Tolstoy writing on 'The kingdom'. Tolstoy's influence on Gandhian Ahimsa (nonviolence) is again enlightening.

As Tolstoy said, the Kingdom of God is within you and me and
everyone else! We are born with a deep desire, a longing and as we live and grow many dicover the source of that desire, that longing is God Himself! As Augustine said, our hearts are restless until they rest in God. Without the inborn desire we would never seek God and we would never meditate on the wonders and wonderfulness of God! Thanks Deepananda for your post on meditation. Have a great week-end!

There is a rather obscure book entitled
The Kingdom of God is Within You that was written by an anything but obscure author, Leo Tolstoy. This book calls upon Christians to remember that the guide for their actions is to be found in the divine principle dwelling within them, which cannot be controlled by anyone or anything else. The book also deals with the nonresistance to evil and was highly influential upon Gandhi.
