Several books--some in volumes-- have been written about Pepys (Peeps!)

--including Winston Churchill in his volumes on the English Speaking Peoples. I was admiring all your tremendous pictures...and chose this post to add my comment/ great stuff Mike! Quite a treat for eye and spirit. (Sorry about the menopause...I always knew that men do puase!) Neil

Hi stbond
Yes your right friend, its like they are driven! As if they have been chosen for that roll in life and some invisible force is making sure they fulfil their destiny. I'm sure if it was possible to see and autopsy on the flesh of the greats throughout history male or female you would find welts in whiplash upon their broad some narrow backs!! I keep looking in the bathroom mirror over my shoulder its always steam-misty though I know I should. . .Thanks again for calling!  Mike

I like this quite a bit. . .
especially since I'm a founding member of the Harwich society (Just kidding. We don't hear too much about Mr. Pepys stateside). These Renaissance men (and women) always amaze me. People who seem to be able to do everything and live larger-than-life lives.

Hi Tony, no I never have, though heard of his wondering round the tavens of
the land and read famous things said by Samuel Pepys, usually nailed to pub walls! There's an old inn named the Worlds End at Tilbury River Side , where he stayed for a few days partying. Reminds me of an Wigged Oliver Reed of his day and time!

Thanks for a Pepys at these pix, Mike.
I've never read the famous diaries but I've often read bits and pieces about his interesting life.

Lion
Sounds like an interesting man....  I like how you've taken bit of history (from within your town I gather) and turned them into a poem/prose for us to enjoy.  Gee... to even have a pub named after you.  Now that's achieving importance.
