It's similar in Australia particularly wanting personal space on the public transport. The whole sense of personal space is relative.. people who live in the country need a bigger area of personal space than city people (they feel very crowded when in the city).

Sad isn't it. It is a way to make new friends not for life but for the
moment at least. It is terrible how people are afraid in a full room of people. You don't have to give them your phone and street number for goodness sake. You go girl, pick the cutest to sit with, you know!

I spent some time in South America.... Most people REALLLY DON'T mind there. I think I have a small personal space but I find myself backing up there. HEhe

I don't like doubling up if I don't have to. If the girls and I go to the mall there are times we have to sit down with complete strangers. Sometimes you meet great people. But sometimes, you across those who should be isolated and placed in a bubble.
