Gordon said they were headed to Mesquite last night
I'll put in a good word for you.  He did see about 20 fans last night and was very friendly with them.  Maybe you'll get to see him.

Success...So does this mean that when I come in tonight
to see Gordon at the Casablanca Resort in Mesquite, NV………that you’re not going to let me backstage?   Not even a fellow blogger?   Geez!

It is pretty amazing how these awe-struck fans can be.
I'm always amazed when I see clips of Elvis or The Beatles way back when.  I can't imagine people acting like that.

Yeah Pat. It's like since they own a CD, they own part of the singer

Ben, I get to see both sides.
I see the entertainers who aren't friendly and the fans that are unreal.

I think some of the basis for that attitude is the TV era. In other words, to use music as an example, many of these artists have produced music videos, which people have seen on cable TV. They then think they have a personal relationship with the artist, based on seeing them in a video format. Also, this attitude is very common in certain genres, like country music, where people feel a very personal connection with the artists. That's why they want to get backstage so badly; they feel they are the only ones with that personal connection with the artists.

I have news for them. Those artists would not be selling out major venues unless a great number of people heard them on the radio or saw them on TV. If you're the only one who likes an artist, that artist can't make a living based on just selling CDs or the MP3s of their work to you. They have to sell their work to a great number of people so they can support themselves, their families, and the band members and other workers who depend on them for a living. (PR people and agents don't work for free.) Consideration cuts both ways; just as some artists shoot themselves in the foot by being absolute jerks, some "fans" shoot themselves in the feet by acting as if they're the only ones who like an artist (and therefore are the only ones entitled to go backstage for an autograph or whatever).
