- Go to Spiritual understanding has very little to do with words
Julia
It can be very frustrating to communicate this part of the human experience. Samuel's right: the words are mostly insignificant.

Ody--
I agree with you. It is not an easy thing to do, to understand the gray areas. I think it takes some conscious effort. Then again, just about anything we humans do with consciousness brings about greater rewards.

Julia…perhaps that is the reason that metaphor is so often
employed in religious stories and writing….I think it’s part of the spiritual journey to develop and exercise ones discernment, for use in defining “what is what”, from out of the “gray area”.

re-Language of the Soul
This is an excellent explanation of the Spiritual using such a limited tool as our human language is. I agree with your views completely, this is the message I try to convey through my own writing. Its great to come across another likemind/soul.

Thank you.
I know the feelin' very well. Get it at the Mezquita in Cordoba, the ruins of Cnossos, Seville cathedral, and above all other places, the Alhambra of Granada.
There are things in there that literally disorientate you, cos they're so complex that you don't know what you're looking at.
BTW I'll repost another poem about Ariadne. Then her story in my Fiction blog, then a humorous three part version. Yep, yer gotta love them Greeks!LOL

ariel 70 of course I knew all about the vopurs the Oracle sniffed. I had
included it in my comment but then deleted it as it was irrelevant to what I was trying to imply. The spiritual well being and awesome love of nature. God, whatever each of us calls it.
By the way while on the subject of Greeks. I did enjoy your poems.

At the risk of raining on your spiritual parade, I guess you don't know that scientists have discovered emissions of natural hallucinogenic gases at Delphi.
This implies that the Oracle was high half the time, though precisely what effect, if any, this had on the prophecies can only be surmised.
I've never been there, but I can imagine the feeling. I'm just racking my brains to recall the Latin name for the spirit of the place ... something locus.
Senior moment, see? Late too.

I was standing at the ancient ruins of Delphi
and I looked out over the beautiful silent valley. My heart began to sing. I knew why the Greek civilisation made this of all places a spiritual shrine.
