I had to prove who I am.
They checked the information Experian has on me and I had to send them in a copy of my driver license and a utility bill showing my physical address. I also had to go through an authorization process similar to PayPal's to show that the bank account I was using was mine.

Dumb question time, Success...
Did you yourself have to be vetted in order to loan money to others through Prosper? This sounds like an interesting money-making opportunity, and I'm curious based on what you've written about it here on Blogit.

Slam, I recommend it
I have learned quite a bit from being in Prosper and I recommend it for that reason. It's not bad that I'm earning more than 20% on my money either. =)
