Oh, when I remember, I do know the first two words of my new countries anthem - does that count?

I've tried to write poetry but I don't think it is in my genes, Original. I tend now to ignore poetry as something I will never understand. I was/am shy but went the other way and made fun of life/me.

Happy Val 'n' Tim's Day ~ Always go back to stuff one day. As for deep, dark poetry, I get some of it and not the rest. Same as with shallow, light poetry - some hits and some misses. |

Hiya, Original
I don't have an appreciation dark poetry. Then again, I don't particularly like depressing movies or books or stuff like that, either.

I get the dark stuff (naturally I REALLY get the dark stuff if I wrote it). Sometimes I don’t understand every nuance but I certainly come away with an understanding that the poet was trying to express heartache, sorrow, the loss of a loved one, etc. Sorrow is of itself a very personal thing so each poet will express it so differently. Dark is good – at the very least it gives way to the light stuff.

Thanks for all the support guys!
It's nice to know others like the deep and gloomy on occasion as well.

I like your poetry -
Screw those assholes! Who told them they knew anything about writing or poetry??? Those guys were probably cross-dressers who wore their mommas panties.
My poetry is kind of dark too....

Strange professors those!
What were they wanting, advertising slogans? I like a wide range of poetry, as long as it has something to say and says it in a striking manner.
