Lovely
I like how this is different from what you would expect--there's so much about throwing away patience, refusing to wait. I like how you turned it around and it's impatience that's been thrown away. Great work.

Very eloquent! The alternative to the stillness is impatience, and to be more precise, chomping at the bit, in a constant state of tension. I've taken the hint; I choose patience.

You may well be right about it not being worth it, that possibility is something that's crossed my mind (for I try to be highly rational, rather than just let emotions bulldoze me). But after much thought, I have come to this conclusion: This is someone whom I loved many years ago (11 years ago to be exact), and once he came back into my life in 2005, the feelings came back to life as if a day hadn't passed. And his enduring affection for me was unexpected and certainly unknown to me until it was revealed. So it's not really like I'm waiting with baited breath; it's more that the feelings are enduring no matter what, so it's not worth fighting it. The only other option is to bury it again, like I did for 8+ years. I already know where that leads.
