I don't know about the nickname, but your post prompted me to view a really nice internet  video of our State Capitol Building history and tour.  I enjoyed it very much.  It had been years since I was there.  I had forgotten about the artwork their that I love.

I guess they are watching

their backs in a round room.  The legislators today are not all statesmen or ladylike.  Those types are not popular. But for those who are straight shooters, we celebrate.

wacky
A circular meeting room objectifies the notion of focused conversation among equals.  Maybe the concept should be revisited....  whaddya think?

I haven't ever been to a cock fight and never will. It's inhumane. Also I don't know what they call our capital other then Columbus..

My Dad to me to a Cockfight.....
When I was about 14....it was barbaric....people were actually sitting on the first rows of the bleachers eating burgers...and "Loser Fried Chicken" sandwiches....while blood was being thrown all about by  the feathered participants......

It was disgusting!

oops
don't know what I did but that went to press too soon.  What I sometimes call what goes on in Topeka is legislatively based (the medical board, appointed by the guv, and the state school board, voter based) well, I'll just say I wouldn't put it in print!

Here in IL, I believe most of our lawmaking comes from prisons.  At least half of our politicians end up there eventually.

Be well,

The most probable reason the law hasn't passed is that
Some of the lawmakers are involved in cock-fighting. It's a popular sport with "Good ole boys", rednecks, the country folk.
