Timmy, beautiful descriptions of such a sad time. Uplifting final thought,
though, and I believe you contributed a touch more to the 'full honors' with this writing.

I do offer you my condolences my friend, and your blog was a wonderful tribute to your dad. As an ex-airman, I salute you old son. God bless.

Oh, Timmy......

I'm sorry you lost your father, but he's in a better place.  He's not in that body anymore and he's free of pain.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  May he rest in peace.

I want a military service too.  I served and I want the world to know.  It's only fitting, but particularly for your father, Tim - he so deserved it.  It's something to be proud of.

God bless you, Tim, and God bless your dear mother.

TIM

You are in my thoughts through this difficult time. I lost my father a year ago this past Sept. Nothing can prepare you for the loss of a parent no matter how long they are sick, etc.

I am glad to hear about how your Father was honored as he so deserved.

Wow.
If I had to have a funeral, that's how I'd want to go. (Not a prayer in reality of course.) But it give me warm fuzzies just to read it. I know it has been tough for you, but that had to have eased the unhappiness a little bit.

Tim, for your Dad...
in the shining green grass which dedicates itself to the singing meadow
through the embracing hold of a wise and silent night
above every call emanating from forest depths
I feel that sparkle of your laughter;
that wisdom beaming strong from within your eyes
in the thundering clouds do I feel the strength of your Heart
into the ever-churning windmill of Time dansing
shall I sing the song of your name

Tim,

First of all, let me say how truly sad and sorry I am for your loss.  Your father must have been a wonderful man.  You've done some incredible writing here.

My Great-Grandfather spent many years in the Navy.  I wish the same honours had been bestowed upon him, but I'm so glad they were given to your father.

Thanks for stopping by to say hi.  Yes, I am feeling well, but I won't be posting to blogit again probably until May.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  Peace be unto you all.

 Big Hug

Timmy,
Beautifully written. No one does pomp and circumstance, or fitting tributes to our heroes, than the military. My father's funeral was the same way -- he was an Army Officer -- and to this day I can't hear something like Amazing Grace or Taps without getting a tight chest.

I'm sorry for your loss, but your love and pride obviously shine through. That, family, and great memories will sustain you.

And believe me, they never really leave. It's been twenty years since I said good bye, and it sems like he's still here, hanging out, giving advice, wishing he could put a foot in my ass when I screw up.

Take care -- sorry for the long windedness of this.

Timmy

I'm sorry to hear about his passing.

My father was also in the air force, and his funeral I guess was in some ways very similar.  Though my mother had the flag presented to my grandmother (his mother).
