Good point, Shadow-Pen.
You've given me an excellent idea to do a tour of Scottish castles. And English ones. There are so many! Thanks! Then, maybe French ones, German ones.... Then the Great Wall of China! There are no end to the possibilities!!

Tony - I sure could do with a tour of famous Welsh castles and I'm
sure many more in Scotland as well. It would be a highlight in my life.

I'm just wondering whether to visit the relatively few that are left?
Then it will be a complete record, on film, of them all, rather than a partial record. I want to transfer the footage to DVD so it'd be best to finish the job first. Hmm. Maybe I'll do another trip in next few weeks rather than wait till next St David's Day.

Tony
Thanks for jogging my memory. I was at Conwy and Anglesea six years ago and stayed with my wife at Bodelwyddan Castle for an extended weekend . wonderful holiday.

Speciual way of learning, and of teaching history Tony, could feel the might of the building by the craftsman, plus the mighty castles set in Welsh stone overpowering those whom thought of taking Longshanks on, Edward 1, crowning his eldest son  prince of Wales, taking it from Llywelyn the defeated true prince. Thank you I enjoyed your day in Sonnet!

Tony, I bet you didn't pop into the Tweedmill at St Asaph though did you.

As ancient monuments go, there are quite a few that shop there.

Hope the A55 treated you well.

Thanks everyone for these welcome comments.

TAPS, I'll try to do some more when I can.

Dave - yes, I did go to Conwy. I've videoed it before in the nineties but I did briefly stop by, because it's on the main coast road to Caernarfon. I've been to Wales on the last two St David's Days now and have filmed probably nearly 25 castles and their surrounding areas.

Did you get as far as Conwy. Now that is a beautiful one.
My Mum-in-Law is in Prestatyn, so I know that area really well.

It is wonderful to just hold on the roots of the past and the Castles are the Books of the mystery for yesterday some had the power to lead and some are the wisdom of the life to read but none of it will last under our light daily speed.......your poem so true history and beautiful memories and honoring for names still on the Earth.......the stranger
