Go out and use the camera in the evening...so that it will be the same
lighting as the wedding....if the wedding is indoors and or at night. Will that work?

Lucky you, to have someone who understands about great opportunities
that come up after plans have been made! Lucky him, to have someone who can't decide between a great opportunity on one hand, and the opportunity to spend time with him, on the other!
Maybe you could make some time to practice with the camera with him in the evenings before his event, before and after yours?
