Hi Blonde
Have you read the poem, "The Slave's Dream" by H.W. Longfellow? One line of the poem is, "For death had illumined his land of sleep and his lifeless body lay", the earlier part I am paraphrasing...the fetters he was bound by (he as a slave), was broken only by death. A good and thought-proving quote containing a lot. Thanks for sharing. So bad that I have no one in my life like Moon and you.

Blonde, I don't know that we ever break those chains. Sometimes we are shocked to be confronted again years later by issues we thought long resolved. I've written somewhat obliquely about a young woman I know. She challenges me (or rather my internal struggle with myself) like no other. She pushes buttons no other can push. She revives demons I thought long dead. In this, she is my best teacher. For she shows me that I am not the master of myself that I thought. I've written a short 'poem' about one angle of all of this that I am yet to post - maybe tonight. I don't know that we ever conquer emotional challenges, break the chains. I'm not sure that that is the goal. Perhaps it is enough if we come into relationship with them, if we learn to dance with them (when we can), and to spar to a draw with them when we must. We don't have to conquer them; we have only to keep them from conquering us. MoonSpirit

Very good post...
I think I'd heard this story, or one similar, before. It's very true, and very inspirational.

This is an excellent post. You can only be as free or as bound as you allow. Be blessed and freed.

Its so unfortunatly true. When people dont feel good enough they can become educated, have top jobs, lots of money ,heaps of friends yet inside they still feel they not good enough.Emotional baggage is a hard load to carry.yet we all carry it.and it stops us from achieving so much.

Great post. And true. Reminds me of this cartoon I saw..
in the
New Yorker. Three pidgeons sitting on a branch. One was chained by the ankle. The other two were some distance away. The caption: She's considered a flight risk.
