I can see that, Nautikos. Whole pages as opposed to half-pages and
illustrated pages and pages with maps and, oh, my god, I can't think under this kind of pressure!!! So how am I supposed to READ?!!! (That about sum it up?)

Saul
Scary? Yes. Does it surprise me? No. By the way, in this case the assignment may have triggered a kind of chain-reaction - the shock of possibly having to read
20 whole pages in only
one week may have caused a short circuit in the arithmetic department...

No doubt, JBird. I have a tutee at the moment who is learning English. I
cautioned him in our last session to beware of "lazy" English (he thought that term was amusing) and corrected his adoption of saying "breffust". Coming down from Richmond, where almost everyone pronounces it like that, I was used to it, but told him that that was not how it was supposed to be pronounced, so I wrote it down and broke it down for him. He got it.

funny
Your story reminds me of a "supervisor" I have at work who loves to voice his frustration over how stupid everyone else is, and yet he spells like a third grader and he pronounces words wrong all the time, such as breakfast, which comes out of his mouth sounding like "bref-tiss." Fear not though, he's not going for an advanced degree anywhere. It probably doesn't help that he never finished high school and was banned from every school in his county for being a delinquent. Haha, I'd love to hear him pronounce and spell that word. That'd give me another post, for sure.
