jacenta-thank you for reading and commenting-I appreciate that.
You are quite  right of course-(I did say this was an oldie)-and I am much wiser now.I am guilty of 'holding back' my youngest son-(over protection because of things that happened to him)-but we have /are working our way through these past mistakes.Thanks again.Chris.

Hi Scramble. Vicarious learning can definitely be an asset, but sometimes mother's tend to shield their offspring from situations that may cause instability or hurt.

And the exam for life beyond hearth and home keeps changing
My mom, bless her heart, kept on fighting the last war in her advice to me along the lines of "find a good company to work for", etc., until I finally made clear to her that there are no good companies.   Now she supports my idea of launching my writing career, as in finally publishing, as soon as the QDRO gets done.
