I like your ideas.. I try to keep just a small emergency fund about $1000, while I am working to pay off debts. Like you I have read both sides and this seems to be the way for me as well.

Good sound advice...I recommend a book called The Richest Man in Babylon
It's a fiction book that teaches lesson on money...pretty neat
