another profound sonnet, in the best tradition.. it's true enough that it's all forgotten in the end.

Hi Bhaskar - thanks for your kind words!!!
I should be more serious more often - no, maybe not! It'd get boring.

Hi Whinge - Me, I wouldn't like to be cremated - I'm scared!
A bit hypocritical really considering the words of my sonnet, but I would quite like a grave actually! Graves are very 19th-century and grandiose and romantic.

What a wonderful work! This one especially to me, ranges with the classics. Superb thoughts, superb vocabulary, in that fine thread of the idea that weaves through, comes a garland of a sonnet.

Thanks Tony, I'm saving that for reading at my wake.
Seriously, that and the one about 'being the Sunday in every week'.
I want a traditional Irish wake, a celebration of my life, and the retelling of stupid/funny stories. Leone (my daughter) says she won't cremate me, I told her if she buries me I'll haunt her, and not in a friendly, nostalgic way - the horror movie way.
If she wants to use me as compost after cremation - that I don't mind.

To all
I am really pleased you liked this one as it is quite scary in its subject matter, but I think, very positive in its intent. Best wishes - Tony

Thank you Wiley
I would like to think that although I am nothing special myself, my writing embodies some truth, and if other people can see that, then I am very happy.

If you never write another sonnet, that will be because you just wrote the very best. I have saved that, it just touched my very soul and I thank you for writing my friend,

( I always give roses to what is life, love and beauty, that sonnet is all 3)
