I read the article in the newpaper, but was unable to find the entire piece in the archives.  There are organizations forming to deal with the problem, but it is so entrenched, rooting it out will take a long time.

New Yorker in Sicily is point on. Cleaning up a sexually abusive school
system in Nigeria and fighting genocide in Darfur should be at the top of our list of things to do with regard to international diplomacy and foreign policy.  The Nigerian situation is compounded by tribal rivalries, the general social oppression of women, and cultural acceptance.

Nigeria, sadly
is a country notoriously known for its lack of rights for women - they still practice stoning women to death for adultery, even when the women are innocent because they cannot afford to defend themselves in court. This is what people today should be worried about and not about stupidity like Britney's rehab stints. These girls do not have a voice.
