Tony
You're the poet!  I knew that's what you were referring to, it's just that it took me out of the sonnet.  --Joy!Mary

Hi Shadow - life has always been a dangerous state. It's hard to pick
the best time to be born. Here I was probably thinking of the Japanese and their idea that spirits live on for a while after death, and then go to their rest, an idea also present in Hamlet, with the father's ghost, doomed to walk the earth for a time after his death.

Tony - An intelligent piece of work, also foreboding and an eye
opener to what's happening around the globe. Would anyone want to be reincarnated in a self destructing world such as today? Not before 2013 !

Thank you all very much - I'm sorry I didn't have time to reply to each one
individually but I was out till 2.20 am and this morning am straight off to work after a few hours' sleep. I appreciate your comments very much. On the questioning of the word 'oil' I refer to the multinational oil companies such as Exxon, Shell and others who literally suck wealth out of the ground of foreign countries and cause economic, political and military instability and inequality in the process - look at the Gulf War, for instance.

I like the sense of foreboding

An amazing piece of work.  How about, 'toil' instead of 'oil'.  Hope you're having fun.  --Joy!Mary
