I assure you you won't need it.  Althouhg I must tell you a few years ago (in the cleaning spree) I threw out our income tax returns and we got audited.  I was in big trouble with my husband and the accountant!!

Re: lindo
brave and iron will!  My, my. I'll try and live up to it.  All I know is I have so much reluctance giving it up, but once it's gone, I don't think about it.  Out of sight, out of mind!

Re: robdon67
it's true.  The occasional momentos is what I want to cherish and be a litle discriminating of what I keep.

This is so good because I am a hoarder too and often feel' I might need
this someday'.  It takes courage to move so decisively into the future.  well done.

you are brave
I am a hoarder, and although i realize that it is necessary to throw things away, i do feel like each scrap of paper is piece of me. You did the right thing, but not everyone has your iron will.

I've thrown out a lot over the past few years, I've found it cathartic at a number of levels, though I must admit I do like the experience of coming across the occasional momento that opens the door to memories.

Greenfields, Hello. I tend to live in the moment. I have kept very few
things of the past... Nice to read you again.

This really interested me. I too have those files of things that I have to wonder.. why am I keeping this? The memories of some of those scraps of my life are more vaulable to me than the paper..so maybe .. for the sake of sanity to have less clutter.. it would be good to let the scraps of paper go.. and just file the memories of them back in my head. Great post!!
