The old fashioned shopping bag, Whacky.  That's what is being touted up here.

The only time I've gotten a
paper bag was when I bought ice cream. Otherwise, we don't have the paper option at our grocery stores. I don't care what they put my groceries in as long as they don't pack items which emit condensation in with dry gooods. You would think everyone knew that, but I guess not.  Take care Whacky!

whackydotter & Bo.
Well even the plastic it being outlawed here slowly. Now there's some kind of new bio-degradeable bag, but I'm not sure if it lasts until ya get home. I've started carrying in my cloth bags now that I got from Food Basics but I shop in Moncion's and I don't think they appreciate it. lolBlah

They should make everyone use cloth totes or those wire basket things on wheels or something.  In the meantime I usually tell them plastic and not to put my gallon things in anything.

Whacky,
our stores hand out recycable plastic bags for your groceries. You pay once (5 cents) and when the bag is worn down, you can replace it with a new one. Rest assured, one bag lasts a long time! They also give you bigger bags for 1 euro (also in recycable plastic). We've had one for 5 years now.

Good and interesting post
Doesn't decomposing plastic add to acid rain and thus greater environmental problems?

It s so amusing to think of us lasting for a very long time
because of the preservatives we eat.  Thank heavens we dont seriously think about all the stuff we stuff down our systems.  we would go nuts if we did.   I would choose the third alternative ,a reusable bag.   The only problem is I forget to take it when I go shopping.

Whacky...
Most stores have a recycle bin for (get this) paper and plastic!  Well, not WalMart, they do have plastic recycle containers though.  Not only that, you can fill them with popcorn and put the handles over your ears, great for watching movies!

I like the idea about the preservatives in us. The thought of them always makes me cringe. But after reading your post I am going to save that funeral cost stuff and pull my favorite 1950 chair out under the Pecan tree and sit there. I should last twenty years of so. By that time they could compost me. I'll keep them company. toy for Bo

Hi Whacky....my grocery stores uses recycle paper for their paper bags

so I don't feel guilty about the trees and I'm not polluting the environment with the plastic. Oh, and I reuse the paper bags over and over until they fall apart! And when I only pick up a few things I use my canvas bags. That's all I can do.
