The mysterious bird question.
Those are purple finches. They never were in Michigan until some time in the 80's. Then they just showed up overnight! Springtime in Michigan is delightful, and the word must have gotten around in the avian society. Guy

I don't but one appears to be male and the others female. Isn't the male in birds the colorful one? Cute little things.

They look like Phoebe's to me. Except that one with the red head threw me, a female cardinal, but no crest. How big are they? Are they the size of robins, sparrows, baltimore orioles?

First I asked Bubbles, my resident 'twitcher', (that's the official name for bird watchers!), but although she purred a bit, she ain't talking to me this morning!
Now, I'm no ornithologist, but at first sight they looked like some kind of finch to me! And then I saw TAPS' comment, who probably knows more about birds than I do, so that settles it - finches! Now we only need to find out what kind...

They look to me like some kind of finch. You might try putting out some thistle seed and see if they chow down.

Whacky,
I'm no ornthologist, but they look like some speicies of swallow to me. I'm not sure, though. Very pretty, whatever kind of birds they are!! A good job you never got round to cutting that branch, huh?
Maybe you could visit your local library and look them up in a bird book? If you find out, be sure to let me know!!
Much love to you and Bo. God bless.
