how cute
this really put a smile on my face. thanks for sharing. i think you did the right thing about not making a big deal about it. he will look back at it and laugh some day rather than thinking of it as a terribly embarrassing moment.
A good mom you are.

Tell Your Son
I've been playing soccer for years. Right now I'm playing on three different teams. For the past two Sundays I've scored a goal for the other team. I have to forget about that goal and remember all the good things I did instead. LOL

reminds me of watching my niece play t-ball. No one ever gets out... and
the last person up always hits a homerun to clear the bases for the next team to get up. LOL Winning doesn't matter at that age... they usually don't even keep score.

Is he okay with you posting about it, though?
To cheer him up even more, you could always tell him how, in certain parts of South America, scoring an "own goal" has lead to several players being killed.
Seriously.
If a kid asks where rain comes from,
I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying."
And if he asks why God is crying,
another cute thing to tell him is
"Probably because of something you did."
