Astute question!
I have no answers, just another take on it: How do we decide who can be offended and who can't? As I heard about this I thought about the ridiculous lengths being gone to in order to avoid offending Muslims in one way or another. It seems that they must not be offended, although I'm sure devout Muslims would find this film offensive as well; yet it is all right to offend Christians.

A very well-written post. I still don't think 12 year olds should be shown R rated movies. They can't see them in the theatre, why in school? THey could see them at home if warranted, I suppose.
