Nikki,

Parents (presumably adults) can be cruel too, it seems. Guy AKA Northsage45

Nichole. You can call me Nikki, Nic, late for dinner whatever; just not Nichole. My dad wanted to call me Ralph, now that would have been cool for a girl.  Biker Babe

Re: northsage's thoughts on one's name.
Thank you for what consider a very nice compliment. One of my goals in writing a blog is to stimulate other people's thoughts and comments. That and envy, but nobody's perfect!  Guy

northsage
I don't think that much about how a different name would have changed my life, but definitely about key decisions like if I chose to study French instead of Behavioural Science then I would have had different friends, never have met my partner and so on.  I watched an excellent film the about this Butterfly effect recently that got me going on this trail of thought.  Interesting reading your thoughts on this subject from a different angle.

I kind of wonder what would have happened if I were named something else.
Actually, my Dad at first thought he would name me after two of my uncles -- my two drinking uncles -- as he used to put it.

Later, my friends would call me Hemingway, because I was working on a novel and I drank a hell of a lot of rum.
