I would kill for an hour at that cafe, there is nothing remotely like it in Lattakia, and even Damascus you have research libraries but nothing that invites a leasurly read. I suppose people in this part of the world have lost interest in books, they are glued to Tv, mainly to cathc up with what is going on in the region, we could use an oasis like this.

Cafes combined with bookshops are a marvelous combination and I suspect it enhances business and profits too. I often wander across the road from the hospital where I work to a three storey bookshop with both new and second hand books and a cafe. It's hard going back to work once I've stepped inside that world.
