Indeed, geri
I have been unusual in nursing in that I stayed with one employer for a long time. After a couple years bouncing around, I found a niche. Many nurses never find the retirement possibility waiting for me because they constantly drop one position when it becomes intenable, then move to another which eventually becomes intenable. The overhead caused by this annual turnover (in some hospitals and specialties as muc as 60% a year, by the latest figures I have seen as of this AM) creates an additional expense borne by the payers; in 1980, the federal govenment estimated (in 1980 dollars) that the cost annually was six billion dollars.
Good for you. Good luck!

The golden handcuffs
I know what you're talking about. I just went to part time. Part time pay and insurance. We decided the money or the insurance wasn't worth what I was going through with my job so changed jobs and went part time. More time to be human now and I really feel like a new person... or my old self again. Hang in there and take the plunge as soon as possible!!!
