Loved this!!!!
Hi survivor mum,
as an art graduate it was inevitable that my son would inherit some of my genes (genius?!!) .. but no matter how much i try to be open minded i find it painful to watch him turn the entire box of water colors into 8 shades of black and yes the brushes do look kind of gross when they are rubbed dry into the paper, and do i need to tell you how the kitchen looks like after he's finished? i didn't think so! still, the only thing that gets me going is that this freedom is what will make him a wonderful person although he may never come near a pot of paint after he's 10. let them make a mess of their projects, it'll take them a few attemps before they produce a masterpiece, in the mean time try looking the other way!

It'll be alright, SurvivorMom. It just takes a little practice and a
little patience (and every now and then a little sneaky intervention).

Still, you gotta let kids explore a bit, let them be creative, let 'em get stupid for a few minutes. Control is a state that is taught and freedom its natural enemy...
