But 1) how can you be so categorically sure that he is guilty? after all, it is a single human being or a set of human beings arriving at the conclusion, 2) in this age of rationality and civilisation, can we go for life for a life and tooth for a tooth? Can this stand to reason?

I agree that an innocent person should never be executed but if he was guilty, why shouldn't he be executed?
