Re: Works as a metaphor

The fate of the poor bee is only death in the event (a measure in self defence)it must dispense its famous sting. The sting remains in the victims body (but who is the victim) and this detachment ultimately kills the bee.

This  little number is laced with duality in its unfolding. The pain and hurt one causes the other might be ones own undoing but one may have been provoked...and all the cliches begin to scream! " 2wrongs dont make a right" "what goes round comes round"  "pick your fights wisely" ...ad nauseum. The Venom coming through from the literal interpretation of the poem is the raw reaction of the victim of the bee sting!

May I add, the beauty of prose, I find, lies in its ambiguity and openness to interpretation, opening the floor to sharing of ideas. I am just curious as to how you read it?

Works as a metaphor too, though maybe you didn't intend it that way.
