- Go to We Spend HOW MUCH to Educate Our Kids?
My expenses are in line with yours
I recently spoke to a school psychologist and he gave me alot of information that makes it clear where the taxpayers school money is going... to the rich... I will write on this later today, if I am not too busy.

I have hung with teachers from private and public schools, and kids were in both.
1. School boards try to make the voting public at large happy, so they do a lot of visible stuff.
2. School boards vie with one another.
3. School boards usually see part of their job as keeping teachers in check (quiet and powerless).
4. When districts (school boards) spend their stationary budget, it includes their own administrative stuff. They give teachers a pittance to spend on their students. Plus getting supplies from the central warehouses is like borrowing old masters from the Louve. (Similar circumstances apply at most pivate school belonging at chains, and the chains like Nobel are expanding).
5. Basic textboooks aren't replaced when they are worn, they buy new/different textboooks en mass.
6. Intramural and intermural competitive sports rob acedemics. If you strip off the camouflage down to the bottom line, educational dollars are siphoned into arenas, pools (!), and programs to spoon feed atheletes which are needed to support teachers and students, the schools' real mission.
7. And a capper...at least locally, schools don't have lockers anymore. Too much overhead. Search and seizure issues. Fires. My kid walks over a mile to school with over thirty pounds of textbooks and binders required by the instructors every day. (Marines carry sixty...after basic training! What are OSHA lifting limits?).
Don't get me started.
Too late!

My HIGh Quality EDucatioN Got me to write like Tis on the Bloggin Network!
Seriously folks, it would cost less to put all of are children in private school than what the average public education system could provide for 1 year in our schools! I could send my child to a good christian school for 2,500- 4,500 per year. They would obtain a quality education with smaller class room to teacher quota and cost less than public school!
thanks for listening
