Re: Fire
I feel the same way, South Lake Tahoe was raging last month and I felt all of the emotions you describe here, the same ones I feel with each California fire, every time, every year! But, Tahoe stirred a more personal emotion, as so many old, cabins/houses that had been in families for generations, were gobbled up, history and all, just gone

. Thoughts and prayers for all "life" which has been impacted by such a vicious outburst of nature!

A thank you to everyone who commented, and an explanation
When I said "Fire is all around me," I did not mean that it is at my doorstop, or even five miles away. We have a dozen or more forest wildfires in my state right now that have burned thousands upon thousands of acres. The smoke from all of these fires does fill the air and cloud the sky--but they are not close enough to me that I need to worry about evacuation. So you see, I can post (and read) on BLogit without worry. LOL.

Well written personal essay! Emotional, factual, reasoned.
But I'm questioning your wisdom! If there's fire all around you, what the heck are you doing posting on Blogit? You should be wetting down your roof or putting your essentials into the car and getting out of there. Take care.

I remember the Haymen fire here in Colorado. The sky was smoke stained, the air thick enough to cut. To see the aftermath, the destruction, is mind boggling

As destructive and sometimes terrifying as these wildfires can be, they are really part of the normal cycle, and actually have enormous benefits as well....

That's so sad. It must be terrifying to see such vast areas burning out of control. Be safe!!!

Julia, I'm very sorry to hear that...............
Some have to deal with the heat, other's with terrible storms, and now you have to deal with fire. I have to deal with bees. Yes, it's that time of year when they get in and start building for winter. Well, they are not welcome here - the exterminators finally came today. I know that's mild next to your having to inhale smoke and TAPS dealing with the heat, but I just wanted you to know, I was in distress too. hahaha

Wish I could help, Julia........ is there anything you can do so you don't have to inhale that smoke? I feel for you, Sweetie.

It has been over four years since San Diego county was nearly decimated by fire. I did not realize it at the time, but I was evidently quite traumatized by the whole situation. There are people still that haven't yet rebuilt. Fires are very devastating! Be safe Julia!

Yes, fire season started pretty early due to the freakishly hot weather in June and July.

Julia - Oh dear. I just made a joke in Rocky's blog. I hadn't read this.
My apologies. Yes, fire is absolutely devastating. There are 1,000's of fires burning across North America at the moment. The heat wave doesn't help. Praying for your safety. Love, Mary xxooxoxoxoxoxo
