Whacky
I use it to re-heat coffee and since our egg timer snapped its spring - too much tension can lead to snapped springs - I use it to time boiled eggs.  I make sure Ell isn't around at the time.

Whacky, we microwave just about everything..Liz took a special course
in micro-cooking many years ago, when the ovens were just getting popular...

Coffee, leftovers,
I heat water in it, melt butter and chocolate, all kinds of stuff.  My mom once tried to cook our Thanksgiving turkey in the microwave. I was in fifth grade. It tasted like rubber. She never heard the end of it- we still tease her!

I try not to use my microwave if I can help it.
But in a crunch I do resort to the occasional nuke.

Some of them are surprisingly good, yeah!

Besides heating stuff, I have made some pretty dynamite prawns and curries in teh microwave, not to mention scrambled egg for the dog.

Whacky - You are lucky you didn't get sick. I use the microwave only
for reheating things.  I don't cook in it because I've 'heard' that microwaves break down the chemical compositions of foods depleting the nutrition.  But, who knows?

I'm with Enigmatic on the meat thing, Whacky. And my parents still don't
own a microwave (my Dad is afraid of the radiation -- really, I didn't make that up).  And I thought I was the only person in the world who warmed up their coffee by nuking it!!!  My wife is a purist -- always brewing fresh.  Me, I'm a realist and a penny-pincher...

I nuke frozen foods, but not things like a roast beef or something - the taste simply isn't the same as a good, old fashioned oven roasted...roast!
