I heard that about fly fishing
that it is an art. You have me convinced! So astrology is a part of fly fishing? I just read that 'in astrology coincidence does not exist'. If you caught one then it would have been a delicious meal for you and your brother, that would be before the spawning so they would be ladden with eggs, yum! (right?) Beautiful pictures! Are you sure you're not twins?

Re: Pretty part of the world
Thanks for dropping in, cp! As often as I am down there, I have never been on Campobello, where Roosevelt had a place as well. But I'll go over there one of these days!

Pretty part of the world
I have spent some time vacationing on Campobello Island, where some friends have a cabin that has been in their family for several generations.

Thanks for dropping in, Chyrlann! Glad you are enjoying it. There's a little more to come, actually. And yes, Nova Scotia is definitely worth a trip...

OMG! A little late but I'm so glad I came around! I still have the wander-
lust going on and your pictures and stories just drove it right home again. Nova Scotia keeps calling my name. It's so beautiful! And you're such a great writer! Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Someday soon, I'll find a way to go. I've been reading articles and browsing the internet dreaming. Someday! Thanks!

This is how I see things Nautikos...you are a fantastic writer, you're
good-lookin', and you cook! ( I can overlook the squirrel thing! LOL!) A few extra pounds? I see the man, not the
few extra pounds! And please tell your brother, I think he's a looker too! In case anyone gets all upset with this comment, I call things the way I see them. Max reads all my posts, and he knows I speak my mind...besides, I'm married - not blind! I am so glad you and your brother were able to spend some time together - one on one. After we've become adults, time alone with our siblings can be a rare treat. Another great read!

Thank you! I did have a great time, and having my brother there was a treat!
And no, I have never done any ice fishing, and frankly, I don't think there'll be any in my future either. It appears to be a frequent pastime on Lake Scugog, Lake Simcoe and Rice Lake, all reasonably close, and up in Northern Ontario it's hugely popular. But I have never felt the urge.
I enjoy fly fishing because of the kaleidoscope of things surrounding it, and because of the locale. But I don't do it often, and am not very good at it.

What a beautiful blog, beautiful pictures and for me beautiful memories. I travelled that area for years and servicing printing equipment I never got a chance to learn to flyfish

Thanks. And no, your fishing wasn't destructive at all. What I am talking about is the use of bottom-draggers by factory ships that suck up everything...
They have destroyed a flourishing, 500 year-old cod fishery on the Grand Banks, and with it a way of life for Newfoundland. Our own government bears a lot of responsibilty for that, for allowing it to happen...And the mindless plunder continues...
And thanks for the stars!

Wonderful post. What a great place--so woodsy looking. I guess that I was one of the destructive ones, for the only place that I have caught salmon was in the ocean off the coast of Oregon. But they sure were good eating later after I got over being seasick.
The star is for giving right answers (all of them were right) in my travel trivia post.

Naut - An absolutely beautifully written post. That first paragraph is
stunning as is the para about the fish in the water. So lovely! Really nice photographs as well. Sounds like a terrific way to spend time with your brother. Now, how did you end up having the same birthday? What're the odds of that? Goodness. I also really enjoyed hearing you 'talk' about fly fishing and the lures. Of course that Robert Redford fim comes to mind. I can still see the scenes in the water but the title escapes me. Well done, Naut. More please.
