Strat, we have all done stupid things, especially as teenagers! And yes, I would have no trouble with Vick having to take some of his own medicine...

If you're a wimp, it's not because you don't want to see dog fighting! That has nothing to do with wimpiness, and everything with basic human decency. Boxing matches? Different story entirely...

Hi again Naut.....Anyone who can hurt an innocent animal can simply

drop dead as far as I am concerned. That really shows their character. And what he did...I heard he personally killed some dogs by electrocution, choking or drowning just because they didn't perform. Maybe they should let him play football again and as soon as he fumbles kill the f**king bastard! What a lowlife piece of shit!

I am ashamed to say that I actually witnessed one of these events
many, many, years ago. The really sick thing, aside from the obvious, and aside from teen-age me thinking I was so cool my face was gonna freeze, was the guy announcing the action. He made some speech about how they weren't sure of the laws of the state, and if anyone were there to set them straight, they would appreciate it. No one in that crowd, of course, did, even though the Captain of the Local Highway Patrol troop, the sheriff, and a couple of other local yokel politicians were there.

The take at the gate that night, as I recall, was more than $30,000. This in admission prices for a bunch of rednecks coming to enjoy an evening of bloodsport.

It waw the nastiest thing I've ever seen in my life.

Th point of that tirade and shameful confession is, I wish someone would put Vick in a dogfighting pit with a really nasty pit bull and let him see if he can fight his way out.

I will never understand anyone choosing to watch dogs kill each other, or cocks, or for that matter those who pay to go to a boxing match.  I guess I'm just a wimp who can only stand to see blood in the operating room, the birthing room or the ER.

I won't dismiss your position offhand, but I do not equate hunting with the kinds of activities Vick and his buddies were engaged in. I chose some time ago to give it up, but I know that, on the whole, hunters are humane. I didn't know about Kolb, but it strikes me that hunting wild boar armed only with a knife carries high risks, even with trained dogs. That would seem to even the odds a bit...

I'm a little confused by all the selective outrage, though.

For instance, there are many players who hunt. In fact, I was just reading how, in the offseason, rookie QB Kevin Kolb (of my hometown team, the Eagles) hunts wild pigs using only a pack of trained dogs and a big knife.

Yet, no outrage in this community ... even though pigs are a lot smarter than dogs.

It's sad that a family can be torn apart
by something as simple
as a pack of wild dogs.

I just heard on the radio that Atlanta Falcon fans are donating Vick's jerseys and other apparel to the Atlanta Humane Society.....for use as rags to clean up the dog poop.......how apropos!
