That was great, Soul. Enjoyed reading.
All those things, that render men weak, are the characteristics of the body. Desires, passions, anger and fear are related to the consciousness rooted in the body. In order to lift this consciousness to the soul, these have to be eliminated. So fasting is one of the ways that throws out the toxins in one, while at the same time has a very positive effect on one's determination. G.M hopkins' poem Habit of Perfection has all this. He believed that The Habit of Perfection refers not only to the white robe (“habit”) that symbolizes perfection, but also to the dedicated disciplined pursuit of perfection by renouncing and transcending the sensuous pleasures. The poet’s conviction is that only by a determined withdrawal from the outer world can one enter into the inner spiritual life. The poem suggests the triumph of the ascetic over the aesthetic side of his nature.

No facade necessary. Live the truth and discover yourself then temporary distraction will be a thing of the past!

Re: soul, i can google, and will about all, fasting, etc
Thank you for a double comment. At your age, healthy eating habits is a must! Get a juicer. Make sure you have enough carrots, beet, cabbage,a couple pieces of garlic, some ginger, some dandelions, cucumber, parsley, celery, spinach, some molasses, tomato, string beans, brussel sprouts, yogurt or probiotics, apple cider vinegar, asparagus, wheat germ oil, egg yolks, lemons, cilantro etc etc. Juice or eat raw. If you use grapes use that alone because it ferments whatever else is there. Together with sprouts, you should feel energised and well gain. Email me for tips when you need them.

soul, so glad i got to read this post,
there are things i dont eat any longer like pork, if i buy beef it is organic, and i dont eat shell fish. or catfish. i dont eat eggs unless they are organic. and chicken the same, in fact i have just about given up all meat, because of the way it is raised and slaughtered, they say kosher is best. i have a large herb garden, and have started to grow some veggies. hopefully someday all will be home grown. i agree with the quality, over quanity. i am trying to drink organic tea instead of coffee. i take no drugs . but would rather learn how to eat, sleep and exercise, and how to treat any illness naturally. granted i am not interested in the quanity of my life but the quality. i ordered the ormus last night and will let you know what i think of it. any info on fasting like what to read would be appreciated........

That's true....but it is not the temptress side. In a friendly way you challenge me to succumb. In a friendly way, I see thru it all. It is not prudish to watch 'the passing parade' Remember that talk-radio show by John Dorimus?

Thanks for visiting, might I add that nutritional medicine includes it in their therapies. They limit the bad stuff like carbs and include fruits, veggies and herbs etc. Its called selective dieting: fasting with a modern twist!

What a concept. No, I am not overweight. But the existence of fasting and dietary rules are yet another strike against religion in my book.

WOW! I could certainly dig into some of those salads, the yellow stuff probably has cheese-laden...I'll pass on that. The fruits look tasty enough. Bananas apples, tomatoes...... and grapes. Can you mail me that food ensemble. Fasting has served it's purpose in me. Besides my job is very physical. Now I see the fangs! Be careful you don't bite your lower lip. Reminds me of Christopher Plummer in his Dracula movies!

Old practices have largely stopped in Catholicism. I don't think they do any fasts or retreats anymore! It can't hurt to try if you have a non-physical labor job! Thanks!

I don't see anything untoward in that lifestyle! In fact, candle flames and burning logs are two of the greatest ways of fighting the evil entity in the eyes, especially in winter. I guess fasting for spiritual progress is different approach. It takes grit to start and persistence to follow through. It is an art really!

Food pollution for control is common in my country as are 'games'. 'Sweated rice' is made when the female sits on a pot of rice naked. She probably uses powers or her uncleanliness to induce changes in the rice that have deleterious effects on the victim. The reverse can be done too. I have eaten a piece of fish that was so charged with energy that I became so energized. Certain wild animals are hunted because their bodies have so much good energy! Thanks!

I must say that my life has been lived around people who do more feasting than fasting. It seems that anytime that two or more people are together, it has something to do with food. People are always on the lookout for new and exotic recipes, I'm not into long-term fasting, but I have found it beneficial to fast one meal a day, or one day a week. I must say that the idea of a wife doing things to her husbands food to control him is foreign to me. What do you mean by "sweat" it out?

Nope... never fasted
Well, that's not entirely true because I tried it for two days and couldn't do - felt too dizzy. I love my food and I love to cook but I can proudly say I stick to a balanced and healthy diet. I'm a "stay at home" and my husband loves to come home to a home-cooked meal; the table set with linen and candles. We often linger over that meal (and a bottle of wine) for hours. It's our way of staying connected.

Re: how do you like your meat "YEAH, UH-HUH, drool"
The problem with meat eating is the karma accruing for the animal's suffering. But with today's factory farms, their cruelty to animals and the hormones they give the animals and birds, it may be best to eat organic or eat no meat. Hindus revere the cow but meat producers don't. Fruits are radiated to give shelf life and veggies are sprayed with pesticides. There is no safe eating unless you go organic!

I’ve always found fasting to be an interesting exercise.
One of my favorite spiritual characters, Mahatma Gandhi, fasted constantly. The relationship between food intake and spirituality has been fervently explored by many, but I’ve always been inclined to believe that balance and moderation in all things is better than extreme austerity or indulgence.

I don't usually fast ... I do try to eat healthy foods but have never
totally abstained from anything... except for once when I had stomach flu and all I ate was rice water and tea.
But I have read in several sites that once in a while we should just drink water, tea or fruit to clean our body of the toxins. Most of the things we eat do more harm than good.
Interesting post SoulBuilder.

Thank you for your double comment! It is all mine own work. God ain't raised no fool yet! I take the difficult and make it simple so innocent souls like you can see a light leading you on. The books are left behind when I write. The God has kept his hold on me and what I write is conveyed to you via my kind of seeing! I do research to know the vocabulary, then he takes over to give you what you need to conquer the devil. It is a good God we believe in and daily he convinces me of his honorable intents. Stay good my friend, lean on him. He will support you.

Sometimes it feels like I'm writing (in my Fibromyalgia blog) using
sign language...you know, writing stuff that nobody can really understand unless they've been there. Nobody could imagine the fire of hell unless they've visited a time or two you know? Anyway....I'm getting way ahead of myself. It's just exciting because I was trying to understand you when I was reading and then I just closed my eyes and asked God to help me and voila' I started 'hearing' what you were trying to say! Glory day! Isn't God AMAZING!

YOU ARE AMAZING! (Maybe we're just weird?) huh?
Have you found many other kindred souls here about, who can relate to these things you're writing? Are these all your words? I'm not talking about plagerizing...or whatever that is, I mean it 'reads' like your are talking...like these ideals and this information is ingrained in you rather than being book-read. I know what you've been through, continue to battle and what you've conquered...I understand this and know living through life is not learned in any books, maybe taught by teachers such as Yogi's, swame's and the like; as in my case; naturopaths, atlas orthoganal practicioners, cranial sacrial manipulators, nutritionists, kinesiologist, iridologists, etc....I believe these are just titles given to witch doctors in the US so they are licensed to work and to bill insurance providers. Does this make sense? I believe we speak the same words only in different languages originating from opposite ends of the world. Does this make sense? Say yes...I'm so glad I found you (or you found me) whatever the case may be dear one!
