We had a 'tripod' once. He had crawled under the hood of a car parked in the driveway and fell asleep on the warm engine; someone started the car, one of his front legs got caught in a belt and had to be amputated...He was a big, handsome tabby, and after he recovered he was quite happy on his three legs...

Do you keep a photo album of all your pets.
I have a friend who, years ago, when she and her husband found they could not have children, began to take into their home, foster children. It started with one little girl and then they could not say no to any. Her husband died when he was in his 40's, but she kept on taking in the foster children. Six of them she adopted. Some were finally adopted by other families. Many of them went back to their own parents eventually. Some stayed until they were eighteen and out of the system. All together, she has had over 250 live with her for one length of time or another. She loves to show her photo album of all "her children".
