Re: Callista
There are practical ways to deal with situations throughout the year. Science helps. Alternative medicine helps. Knowledge helps. I am investigating and presenting my findings to the blogit community. You are special and if you have a burden, I consider it to be mine, too. I appreciate your comments and you.

soul thanks for the post,
i have all the kevin trudeau books like spinner, and i also went to a home show, and got a whole new cleaning system, threw out all my chemical cleaners and now i use vinegar for everything and it does a wonderful job, and i learned about hydrogen peroxide as a disinfectant, it is very inexpensive and was invented in wwl  just for that purpose.  so no chemicals in my house and it is just as clean, my son has asma and he has the air purifiers, i have one, would like to get another.  in the winter i dont have to use  the heater as it is not that cold here.  when it does get cold i burn wood in a fireplace and it does the trick.  i understand that forced air is terrible as the ducts collect so much mold etc.  even in the summer we suffer a little more with the heat, because i read that air conditioning is bad for you.  there are so many things we can do to live healthier.  thanks for the posts and for sharing.  it is wonderful to see so many others with like minds .

And, the lake gives you moisture and fresher air. Sounds nice!

Dave
I live in a place where it really does not get so cold that one cannot be out and around all the time of the year. We are surrounded by a lake and few people. It is a healthy place.

Re: .Dave
Yep! It's definitely healthier than my room or workplace! Thanks!

Re: Offy
When your sinus starts to close down, know that it is air depleted of negative ions and water. A/C also depletes the air of good ions. Thanks!

Re: Troosha
That's what a negative ion generator is. Where is this warm belt.... British Columbia? Here people frown on open windows, but I still keep it 'cracked. Thanks!

Cleaners should be used in your living/sleeping space. Hot air rises carry the pollutants with it! Thanks!

Re: Dolls43 and Sannhet
Plants work in a mysterious way. During the day they  take in carbon dioxide and let out oxygen. This is why they are beneficial and can be seen everywhere. In the night however, the reverse happens: they take in oxygen and let out carbon dioxide. It is therefore, a risk to keep them indoors at night. Thanks!

Lucky you! How are you handling The Santa Ana when it brings you all those positive ions?

We just get out into nature whose air is never bad. See the colours, hear the murmurs, feel the force of leaf and drop, smell the crispness, taste the clouds. Houses can immure us.

 Be well.

Our furnace guy came this morning and we scheduled a full cleaning for next week...I like some humidity in my air (not the oppresive kind) but forced air heat is a killer on my sinus...

Soul
I have an ionizer - works like a charm - and fortunately I live in the warm belt of Canada so can keep my windows open during the winter (on most days...).  Albeit the warm zone, its also the rainy zone and what gets to me the most is long periods of grey skies.

soulbuilder--I had one of those air purifiers when I had my apartment a few
years back.  It was fantastic.  I loved that thing.  I'm looking to buy another one to put in our basement.  Good post.

I do like Dolls said she does - filling the house with lots of plants. Luckily I am finding out that up here in northern Vermont, there's lots of fresh air!

Dave
Good writing.  I fill the house with lots of plants during the winter, that also helps improve air quality too.  Especially Peace lilies which are completely idiot proof (to my joy) to keep alive and thriving.
