Good Morning, Corbin! Yeah, it's a bit chilly here as well! I wouldn't mind the crisp autumn air, if it weren't followed by the even crisper winter air...

well,it seems management is nutty all over the world. In new zealand
a pupil can swear and intimidate a teacher and maybe, get a tap on the wrist. They drink ,sometimes during school hours and smoke weed at break. They may get another tap on the wrist. Then a kid dyes their hair purple and they get suspended from school. Go figure....

Education management is like military intelligence -- an oxymoron.
In the first place the mini puffballs who supposedly manage schools seem to focus on non-issues -- behavior and deportment -- and neglect teaching. They worry about students' tee-shirt graphics and hair styles, where hemlines should be, whether couples can publicly display affection, etc., more culture cops than educators.
The principal's uselessness is reinforced when he ignores or lets slide the now-obvious signs of potentially dangerous, malfunctioning students. School boards have to be concerned about security issues given the world we live in, but their major focus should be curriculum.
It's the principal's job to make sure his/her graduating seniors have the foundation on which to build a life, compete for jobs, get into college, etc. The signs of academic failure to perform are everywhere - even on TV: last night's "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" for example. Neither the contestant nor the students could name the city Charles Lindbergh reached on his Transatlantic flight from New York. (Paris, France) They all named a U.S. city. Well, duh!
