That would suit Pete to a "T".

Makeda will now have another funny old dog to nap with.....
The older I get, the more I agree with that "the more I like dogs" statement.
My new neighbor has a rickety tickety, skinny and wobbly, multi-tumor dangling and ancient old red doberman named Ben and I have come to love him. He knows it, too. He races away from her house when she first opens the door, as fast as his foot dragging, clacketty old bones will allow and plays like he can't hear her. He goes too far and can't walk home.
I hear her and know that Ben is taking a walk. I race out the front door and front garden gate and clap my hands and call him over and he can hear that.
He has a smile on his face and happiness in his heart and adventure in his soul. He is sixteen and amazing. He reminds me so much of Keda, his spirit and Joie de vivre (sp?), that I pet him and talk to him, fully enamored. The old guy knows it and it is so sweet, that he indulges my Makeda remembering moment.
May Pete rest in peace next to my old girl and save a spot in the sunlight for old Ben.

Yes, I must have mentioned that in my original post in 2006.
He sounded sort of like a seal. He would go outside, "bork", (he could also "honk"), thus getting our other beagle to run out baying...while Pete casally slipped back in through the door and took up the most comfortable spot.

Sorry the photo wouldn't post normally. This is a photo I used earlier...
Pete taking his first nap in a real bed within the first hour after he came home with us.
