You passion for the painting is so powerful and contagious i felt your agony as you tried to convince your sisters to buy it. I felt a rush of relief that you bought it at last ( i was scared to death that it might have been sold by the time the deliberations were over). I agree with you on the matter of gifts, i like to give something that has touched me in a way, something that could only have been bought by me and not a generic item that is useful or appropriate. Although the perfect gift should reach out to the recipient as well and not end up banished to a dark corner or (worse) to the regifiting closet.
