Nautikos
I learned from a dermatologist I worked for years ago, that too much washing of the skin is unhealthy and leads to all kinds of skin problems....we were not meant to wash all over with soap daily.....he also recommended washing the body with Dove (I'm sure there are other brands he might include today) and underarms with Dial. Just furthering the comments past hands - they do need to be washed for the cold/flu thing, etc.....but, otherwise, we need our bacteria!!!!!! Remember "War of the Worlds"......it's all that saved us!!!!!

you know I saw a special once....can't remember what it was
but they did an experiment....half the room washed their hands with regular soap for 30 seconds, the other half with antibacterial soap for 30 seconds, and there was no difference in the results!!!

So being lathered up makes you squeaky clean in more ways than one?
I could say I always was a dirty girl, and not exactly be lying, but not for the reasons you'd think.

I actually have difficulty using harsh soaps because I have contact dermatitis, so stick with plain old water, which can cause the problem in itself.
It might account for me being so hormonal though!

Im very interested in this because working at the hospital we constantly
wash our hands between patients and serious messiness. We also wear gloves and this is all for infection control. Id read this long before working there that ordinary handwash was better than anti-bacterial. I understand that but now working in a hospital where cross-contamination can make ill people more ill, I sort of wonder what the answer is. You see, in the last three months since starting the jobs ,the skin on my hands is looking awful. Some caregivers are also getting exzema from the powder inside the gloves.
And now Im thinking of the possibility of it ruining my sex life??Oh no,that doesnt make me a happy chappy.

TAPS is point on, here, Naut. It has been information readily available
for people willing to listen that antibacterial soap, while it is killing bad bacteria, kills good bacteria as well, bacteria you need to survive. It also lends itself to the mutation factor, mutating both good and bad bacteria, good to be bad or ineffective, bad usually to worse. Washing one's hands with plain water or soap and water is best. This is not to say you can't keep some antibacterial soap around for a wash after cooking chicken (for salmonillla), just use it sparingly. The antibacterial thing is a media-led juggernaut of ignorance...

Its always been better for one to wash with just plain old soap, and let the bubbles and the scrubbing action and the water wash the bacteria away. Too much antibacterial stuff will eventually be the end of us. LOL

I've read numerous arguments that antibacterial soap is not such a great thing but this is a new one... that is messes with your hormones! That's it for me.

This sounds like a thing we used to call "nasty nice."
Only we used the term to refer to a particular kind of fashionplate guy magnet who dangled herself as lush, but didn't want actually want contact, just to be looked at.
