Sounds like a nice place.
I've always liked mountains. I've been wanting to move to the mountains forever. Where do I live now? Far from the mountains. Take care and great post

Krisles, Independence, Missouri is what I dislike the most about this
state! I went to Santa Calagon days and was extremely disappointed...the people, the mentality, the energy was really bad, very unlike the Plaza Art fair!
I'm really glad you do have good memories of KC!!

I always loved going to the Plaza Art Fair! I hate I've missed it again!!!! I have many things in my home I bought there over the years. I hear you about the mentality thing....I guess I just feel like there's going to be that to deal with, in one form or the other, anywhere and that it's just part of the diversity of people. I did, however, dislike the lack of "energy" I found when I lived in Oklahoma City....nice folks but they have no concept of getting things done as a community (my first day there was the day of the first major bank failure in the 80's). And, I really didn't like living in Independence as much, either, now that I think about it.....

Krisles, I should put it this way. I feel very at home in my house, but I
don't care for much of the mentality I find in some parts of Missouri...I try to stay out of those parts...I wrote about it somewhere...I did go to the Plaza Art Fair today and loved it!

There's not too much that I like about my small town...except that it's quite peaceful and very beautiful in terms of nature.
But I do miss New Westminster, BC so much... guess it's because I grew up there and all my "best" friends are there.

I live on the west coast of Canada with ocean, moutains, and forrest the backdrop to the small town I live in. You make KC sound like a place one should visit.... never been.

I need to find the parks and fountains in Dallas....I was used to having one close to every neighborhood, but don't find that here very much. I do like Dallas, and it's "newness" everywhere is a completely different vibe than KC. I loved the midwest, too....when I first moved to KC, it had four distinct seasons....with the trees making Spring and Fall the most beautiful. Also, having grown up without snow, I was always in love with that look. The Hill Country is my favorite part of Texas....I'm not that fond of North Texas, kind of "blah" compared to Central, South and East, and some of the sites in West. I was just telling Shelly that I would love to visit Ohio....I'd lilke to do another road trip and include it....some of your posts, describing the places you've been and things you've done there, have given me the bug.

I've only been through Ohio once that I recall....and what I saw was beautiful.....I'd love to do more visiting there. If you're ready for a change....make one! I've moved so much that, other than the paralyzing dread of packing and actually
moving, I always get excited just thinking about all the new adventures I'll have, and it used to seem that once the thought entered my mind, it was practically a done deal.

You can't imagine how much I've enjoyed the posts where you've shown and written about things in KC!! They are almost always places I love, too. Hope you enjoyed your theater excursion last night.....I always did. We nearly always started out with dinner at the Nelson...one of my favorite places to eat....and then went to the theater.

Where do you feel at home? I can't imagine being very happy if I didn't feel at home somewhere.....of course, I moved all my life and had to learn to be at home wherever I am. It's why having 3 "homes" now doesn't really affect my comfort level....it's just shot any organizational skills I ever had!!!

Do try to make it on your list. I'm sure I'm guilty of looking with rose colored glasses because of having spent such a fun time in my life there....but, too many others who moved there have echoed the sentiment.....my mother's first comment was, "It's so old, and you always liked new!"....and my response was, "It's
supposed to be old!"....and that sense of history was something I always relished there.

It is a matter of knowing where to go in most cities, unless your visit just happens to take you there. Spring and Fall are usually so gorgeous because of the trees and flowers, though....there's beauty everywhere. I'm not as fond of the Kansas side, although that's where my home is now....I prefer the area by the Plaza that I spoke of, and that's where I would try to go.

One of my fondest memories is my first time at a street dance held at "12th Street and Vine" - it was fun and the music was great. There's also great BBQ there, if you're a fan..

I think KC is a pretty place too. Course you are living in one of the prettiest (if not the prettiest) cities in the world....DALLAS!!! Talk about parks and fountains...where else can you go to dinner or take lunch and sit in the middle of water fountains? Now you also mentioned Austin, such a pretty place and I love Johnson County, hill country and Fredricksburg...but as much as I love to visit those spots the best place for me is the midwest where I have the seasons...There's so many pretty places ....

Wow...maybe my next vacation should be to KC? LOL
I live in Ohio. I was born in NY, but because of my parents divorce, my mom packed my brothers and I and moved to Ohio. I was 4. We lived my my granparents until mom bought a house. Ohio is beatuiful and I've had some great, and not so great memories here. But I'm ready for a change. I'd be willing to move back East.

I'm so glad that I read this before I sign off of Blogit for today. Its time for me to get ready. We're off to the
American Heartland Theatre to see the matinee production of
Moonlight and Magnolias. There is so much to do in KC, its hard to keep up with everything.
