vision is part of it...
The rest is the sweat and determination to see it through.

Sometimes it is necessary to jump into the pool without checking the water level.

Sure, I never said it had to be necessarily a large mark.

Re: Antonionioni

I often think that real talent and the pursue of wealth/fame can be mutually exclusive sometimes. Thank you.

I think visions change but when we have one we should “go for it”. So often we’re inspired and in that blood surging moment we have clarity. It’s the “what ifs” that knock the luster out of the dream or the vision. It’s the self doubt that turns a running stride into cautious tip toeing. So I suppose we should all jump on it before the fog of uncertainty creeps in.

I thought it would be neat
to leave a large mark on the world, but this can go terribly wrong. Now, I'm happy with a small mark that sort of happily blends in, like leaves. I suppose that's a very dull aspiration, but considering how bad bad can be, I'm okay with dull.

I think it largely depends on self-belief.
Even self-doubters can still have great moments of confidence when they can perform great work. They wouldn't perform that work if they didn't think they were capable of it. The people who are often misguided are the people who just do something because they are keen on fame or wealth and they might indeed not be very talented - although sometimes even they succeed if they have suffiucient determination. They succeed, but they might never be regarded as great. that requires genius, not determination.

If you believe in what it's right, then the rest should come by default.

Re: Sure, mademoiselle
Just look at the names of the characters. But I wouldn't call it a ripoff exactly. Ok, so he took most of the elements from the classic Greek tragedy, but I think he molded it his own by updating them to his era.

It is also about principle. Though the strategy can change, there must be a consistency of principle. Principle keeps conscience alive!

I lost nearly all of my respect for Shakespeare when I started studying Greek Mythology ...
and realized how much of it he had "ripped off".
We tend to scoff at the beliefs of the ancients.
But we can't scoff at them personally, to their faces,
and this is what annoys me
