Hello Carl,
Thank you for reading my poem but especially for sharing that with me. I am touched and moved by your thoughts an emotions and determination also to constantly move forward and write that new chapter of your life after closing the door of that previous chapter. It really is such a difficult thing to letgo, say goodbye andmove on not only physically but mentally and emotionally..although it is so liberating when you have! I wish you all the best for dealing with current struggles and future ones..and I shall keep you in my prayers.

It took me awhile to come to that realization about my ex
And she left me! I am in the process now of cutting all of the ties, borne of necessity from long term unemployment and then underemployment which were a consequence of the divorce, which constitute chores which I end up doing for her benefit. Once I start getting paid from my new job, I can give her the dryer that a friend of ours gave to us both, but which my ex has laid claim to as a way to get me to do her laundry. Out goes her dryer, in comes my new one and then I am only doing my own clothes and the clothes my kids wear when they are with me.
Then through the rest of the house, out goes everything that is hers, to her or the trash. Everything completely reorganized my way. All the jobs I consider important getting done. Buying or making the furniture I need. Nothing on the floor. Chairs you can sit on, rather than being used like desks or wardrobes. A place for everything and everything in its place.
A home I can bring a lady friend to or have a party at without embarrassment. A home I can easily move from when I finally buy my own home. Renting is the last and most galling legacy of my ex-wife. She insisted on renting, no matter the costs which, during my six figure days, were quite steep.
