Wish I'd had that when my kids were younger.
Maybe it would have saved us a lot of WOE at the age of fifteen, when they had to be told repeatedly that cleaning their rooms involved picking up each piece of clothing (by name and description) and putting them on a hangers or throwing them down the chute, etc.

It gets more frustrating
as your children get older.  I have learned the best way to get my son to do exactly what he needs to be doing is to write it out.  It gives him something to refer back to.  Unfortunately, not all situation allow for that luxury.  The eye contact suggestion does help, but on a bad day, even that doesn't do the trick.
